(1981 - ) Lena, Wisconsin
Jon was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta; more commonly known as "brittle bone" disorder. His childhood was filled with hospital visits and stays for fractures, body casts and surgeries. Most of his time in bed was spent drawing or making things with his hands. He traveled to Washington, D.C. every 3 to 4 months to be studied by the National Institute of Health. These trips expanded his world immensely.
After returning from Disney World, Jon drew the Disney castle and donated it to the Make-A-Wish Foundation auction for their first Christmas Extravaganza. This was the start of entering small shows and contests. As a high school freshman he received a best of show in a student art contest and had his piece hang in the U.S. Capitol building for one year.
Jon earned his BFA degree in May of 2005 from the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh. He currently resides in Appleton, Wisconsin and continues to show his work. Jon's work has received numerous awards including the grand prize in VSA arts' 2003 show for young artists with disabilities "Road Trip: A Journey of Discovery" and is in many private collections.
